Vocational Pathway Consultation

A 75-minute working session to compare German apprenticeship and vocational routes and leave with a practical next-step plan.

Two people reviewing notes during a vocational consultation

Who this consultation is for

This session is for adults and school leavers who are considering an Ausbildung, Umschulung, school-based vocational programme, or a direct move into work but do not yet have a reliable route. It is especially useful when several occupations look plausible, prior education was completed outside Germany, or online advice has produced more questions than answers.

The result is not a generic career test. You receive a written pathway note that records the occupations discussed, the assumptions still needing confirmation, suitable official sources, and the next three to five actions.

What we work through

Before the appointment, you send a short account of your education, work experience, German level, location and occupations already considered. During the session we:

  • clarify whether dual, school-based or retraining routes are relevant;
  • compare up to three occupations by everyday tasks and training conditions;
  • identify likely entry requirements and questions for employers or schools;
  • review application timing, regional considerations and practical constraints;
  • separate confirmed facts from matters requiring an authority or chamber decision.

Within two working days, you receive a concise pathway note by email. One clarification email within seven days is included.

What is not included

We do not make immigration decisions, certify qualifications, guarantee an apprenticeship place, translate documents, or act as a recruitment agency. Where recognition or residence questions arise, we point you to the competent chamber, recognition office, vocational school, Federal Employment Agency service or immigration authority.

How the appointment runs

The consultation lasts 75 minutes and takes place at our Munich office or by secure video call. Your adviser uses your preparation note to keep the discussion tied to actual choices: occupation profile, training format, employer expectations and sequence.

Bring or send your CV, certificates if relevant, current German-language evidence, and links to any vacancies or training programmes you are considering. Documents may be redacted; do not send passport numbers, health information or unrelated personal records.

Constraints and realistic timing

Application windows differ by occupation, employer and school. Many dual apprenticeships begin in August or September and larger employers may recruit well in advance, while vacancies can remain open later. A pathway note therefore includes dates only when they can be checked against a named provider.

The fee is €145. Rescheduling is available with 24 hours’ notice. If your situation requires specialist legal, immigration or formal recognition advice, we will say so before or during the session rather than extending beyond our scope.
